Delaware and Maryland Coastal Sea Kayaking

Paddling Delaware and the eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia

Welcome to the new home of Delmarva Kayaking.  No much has changed, we just thought it was time to give it a simplified url.  We will continue to try and bring you the latest canoe and kayak news and information from the Delmarva Peninsula.  We are not affiliated with any commercial interests and rely upon the paddling community to send us the latest information.   Let us know how we're doing: delmarvakayak@comcast.net

In association with the Middle States Paddlers, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Division of the ACA, and Delmarva Paddlers (non-ACA) some information for the Delaware and Maryland coastal kayaking community, and maybe just a little more.  New we've added a section for Greenland Paddling

Look for upcoming Canoe and Kayak events in Delaware and Maryland Canoe and Kayak Events and area launch sites at Beach Put-ins   See the links section for local area internet links, and then some.

Above: The Pack is lead by Sweet Pea in her CLC North Bay for the 2002 Delaware Surfriders Rehoboth Bay Awareness Paddle.  A worthwhile event that is no longer being put on by the Surfriders.

Follow the links to Cape Henlopen Paddlers News  to see some of the old articles about kayaking Delmarva.  More can be found at Delmarva Paddlers

Yak City is Jim Grant's slightly skewed view on building his and Sweet Pea 's (first) kayaks.  Jim continues with the launching of the boats with They Float  It's an interesting perspective from a first time paddler and boat builder.

Also of note Fisher Poets Gathering, The Gathering is an event that brings together fishing industry-related men and women from several states to read their poems and stories, sing their songs, and socialize in a pub atmosphere.

Thanks to Christina G. Weaver of Ocean View for the following poem.

Kayak Convert

 Paddle away

Any direction

My choice

Push the air

Pull the tide

Get the rhythm

Work the shoulders

Turn the arms

Inhale power

Exhale fatigue

Welcome splashes

Savor the salt of

Sweat

Celebrate strain

Delight the senses

Free the mind

Lie back

Go with the

Flow
