The Delaware State Parks Adventure Race Series!

This is the forth season of the Adventure Race Series.  This year, they will have five races at five different parks.  Each race is designed with the average athlete in mind. Prizes will be awarded for multiple categories and each participant receives a race T-shirt!

 

Due to a conflict with another local canoe and kayak race, the Philadelphia Spring Regatta Canoe and Kayak Race has changed its date to Sunday, June 1, 2008. Thanks.

 

ANNUAL TOMS RIVER CANOE & KAYAK RACE, Sunday, May 18, 2008.

Meet at: New Toms River Bridge Parking Lot, Irons Street.

Entry Fee: $12.00 Per Solo; $22.00 per Tandem; $18.00 Both Open Water; $24.00 Canoe Rental.

Free transportation: for you & your boat to the starting point.

Preregistration closes MAY 9, 2008.

DOWN RIVER Canoes & Kayaks (8 miles) - 1st shuttle van 8:00 AM: Categories:

Men's Tandem, Women's Tandem, Mixed Tandem, Family Tandem (1 Occupant must be under 13), Youth Tandem (Both 16 & under), Solo Canoe, Men's Kayak (12 feet and under), Women's Kayak (12 feet and under), Men's Kayak (Over 12 feet), Women's Kayak (Over 12 feet), Master Kayak 45 years & older (Over 12 feet).

OPEN WATER Solo Kayak - 9:30 AM: Novice Solo (4 Miles), Experienced (4 Miles).

OPEN WATER - 11:00 AM: Surf Ski/Outriggers/Open Canoes (6 Miles), Novice Touring (6 Miles), Experienced Touring (6 Miles).

Top three winners in each category will be awarded paddle plaques. Prizes from a random drawing donated by: Bel Heaven Canoe & Kayak, KFS Paddlesports, Kislin's Sporting Goods, The Jersey Paddler, Triple T Canoes & Kayaks, Woodstrip Watercraft, Ocean County Parks & Recreation.

The Toms River Canoe & Kayak Race is held annually on the Toms River, from Riverwood Park to Huddy Park. The race course is 8 miles, consisting of 85% slow-moving shallow freshwater with many turns. Water level seldom requires any portage. Winning times have ranged between one hour and twenty minutes to two hours and twenty minutes. PHILADELPHIA SPRING REGATTA CANOE & KAYAK RACE Sunday, June 1, 2008 [NEW DATE], Schuylkill River, 7 miles (11,265 meters).

Registration on Race Day: 10:45 AM – 11:45 AM (2 loop course), Mass start at Noon.

Start/Finish Philadelphia Canoe Club, $15/person Entry Fee.

Classes: Unlimited K-1, ICF K-1, Surfski, Sea Kayak K-1, Downriver K-1, Touring K-1, Recreational K-1, ICF C-1, ICF C-2, Outrigger OC-1, Outrigger OC-2, USCA C-2, USCA C-2 Mixed, USCA C-2 Standard, USCA C-2 Mixed Standard, USCA C-1.

Age Categories: Men & Women: Junior (11-18), Open (19-39), Master (40+), Senior (50+), Veteran (60+), Grand Veteran (70+), Grandmaster Veteran (80+).

PHILADELPHIA CANOE CLUB OPEN HOUSE CANOE & KAYAK RACE Sunday, July 13, 2008, Schuylkill River, 8 Miles (12,875 meters).

Registration on Race Day: 10:45 AM – 11:45 AM (2½ loop course), Mass start at Noon.

Start/Finish at Philadelphia Canoe Club, $15/person Entry Fee.

Classes: Unlimited K-1, ICF K-1, Surfski, Sea Kayak K-1, Downriver K-1, Touring K-1, Recreational K-1, ICF C-1, ICF C-2, Outrigger OC-1, Outrigger OC-2, USCA C-2, USCA C-2 Mixed, USCA C-2 Standard, USCA C-2 Mixed Standard, USCA C-1.

Age Categories: Men & Women: Junior (11-18), Open (19-39), Master (40+), Senior (50+), Veteran (60+), Grand Veteran (70+), Grandmaster Veteran (80+).

Registration on Race Day: Noon – 12:45 P.M., Mass start at 1 P.M.

Start at John Heinz Wildlife Refuge (86th Street & Lindbergh Blvd, Phila).

Finish at Governor Printz Park on the Delaware River (Lester, PA), $15/person $25/double Entry Fee.

Classes: Recreational Kayaks & Canoes / Competition Kayaks, Canoes & Outrigger Canoes.

Age Categories: All ages.
